This unit builds on students’ knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology to support person-centred, evidence-based nursing care. It focuses on health conditions affecting the hepatic, immune, renal, integumentary, endocrine and gastrointestinal systems across the lifespan. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the National Health Priority Areas by examining disease aetiology, pathophysiology, assessment, diagnostic testing, and pharmacological management. Emphasis is placed on applying evidence-based, safe, and effective pharmacological interventions that respect individual preferences, draw on patients’ strengths, and promote autonomy, health, and wellbeing.
